Thank you to all parents who have filled in the forms and returned to teachers as well as those who have registered for Lunchroom supervision. We appreciate having the information provided to support your students.

The first meeting is on Tuesday, September 9 at 6:30pm.

Attendance

Please call the school at 403-777-6220 option 1 and leave a voicemail for all attendance. If you are emailing your child’s teacher, the office still needs to be notified. Please include northhaven@cbe.ab.ca in your email. If the office has not heard from you either by email or phone we will contact you directly. Please do not call the office with nonattendance issues until after 9:00 AM as this takes away from ensuring all the students have been accounted for. Thank you for your assistance during this very busy time of the day.

Bus Parents

At the end of every school day, we will put all REGISTERED AND APPROVED riders on the bus. It is of utmost importance that if your child will NOT be going home on the bus at the end of the day that you notify the office prior to 1:00 PM. Please leave a message on the attendance/bus line. Thank you.

Medical or Physical Conditions

If your child(ren) has/have any medical or physical conditions that the school needs to be aware of please fill out and return the student health plan to the school.  Forms went home with your child(ren) this past week, a copy is attached should you require.

To provide a safe learning environment for all students and staff, please be aware of health concerns at North Haven.

Allergies / Peanut / Nut Aware - We try to ensure a peanut/nut aware environment, as we have several students and staff with severe allergies. Please keep this in mind while preparing student lunches/snacks. Students do NOT have access to a microwave at lunchtime. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

Scent sensitive – Help us keep the air we share healthy and fragrance-free. The chemicals used in scented products can make some people sick. At North Haven there are several students and staff with fragrance sensitivities, asthma, allergies and other medical conditions that are impacted by these scented products.  Please do not wear perfume, cologne, aftershave and other fragrances when coming to the school, especially for school events. The use of unscented personal care products is safer for those who struggle with chemicals in the air.

Lunch Information

Reminder to register for lunch supervision through MyCBE if your child is staying at school for lunch.

The school is encouraging Waste-free or Boomerang lunches.

A waste-free lunch contains no disposable or throwaway packaging. Pack drinks and food into reusable food and drink containers, then place within a reusable lunch bag or box. This method favours reusable food and drink containers, washable cutlery and cloth napkins. All containers are re-sealable so that leftover food and drink can be consumed (or composted) later. (Recycling Council of Alberta)

A Boomerang lunch is where students are asked to bring all the waste home from their lunches. This includes all packaging and food waste. A boomerang lunch is not to transfer waste disposal from school to home but to provide parents with first-hand knowledge of their children's eating habits and preferences. School staff see a huge amount of uneaten food go into the garbage day after day. This is not only wasteful but also expensive.

School Parking

The school parking lot is for staff ONLY. It is unsafe to have parents coming in and out of the parking lot during drop off and pick up. Please use the available space on the street to park.

Drive Safely

Some unsafe driving practices have been observed during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups. We ask parents to make sure you are not parking in crosswalks, alleyways or on corners, obeying speed limits, blocking driveways and not jaywalking with your children.  Thank you for helping us keep students safe during this very busy time.
