Dear North Haven Families

We would like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.  There are many things that we are thankful for at North Haven.  We see kind, helpful students who are willing to assist others. We see leaders in the building attending Grade 3/4 and 5/6 leadership clubs. And we see students engaged in learning. We are thankful to have such a wonderful school community to work with.

We thank members of the school council for delivering gift cards for all staff from the local cafe. It was a well-received treat!

This past week we successfully completed the second fire drill of the year as well as the first lock down drill.  All participants took these drills seriously and demonstrated an understanding of the importance of practicing. The constables who helped run the Lock down drill were very impressed with how well it went.

Please remember that there is no school on this Holiday Monday.  A reminder that there will be no one in the school office on Monday.

Have a great week,

Cat & Pam

Important upcoming dates information

October 23: Grade 3/4 Celebration of Learning

Families of the grade 3 and 4 students are invited to the assembly that will be starting at:

October 31:  Halloween

We know that many of our families look forward to Halloween each year. In class, teachers will engage in Fall-themed activities on this day. The Monday and Wednesday Kindergarten class will have an orange/black day on Wednesday.

On October 31, students are welcome to wear a costume if they wish for the morning only. Please keep the following tips in mind:

  • Keep your child’s comfort and safety in mind for indoor and outdoor play. Make sure your child can wear a coat and indoor and outdoor shoes with their costume.
  • Students should be able to participate in gym and outdoor play safely (tripping hazards are discouraged).
  • Please ensure their vision is not obscured by their costume. For this reason, masks should not be worn.
  • Please leave loose props at home. We cannot be responsible for anything lost or left behind at the school before Halloween night. Please do not send costume weapons to school (swords, guns, etc.)
  • No scary or gory costumes. Please remember we have small children in the building as well as students and staff with varying levels of sensitivity. We want everyone to feel safe and have fun!
