North Haven families,

Parent-Teacher Conferences

It was great to see so many families taking part in parent-teacher conferences. These conversations are an important way to build connections and communicate between home and school. When we work together, students succeed. If you were unable to meet with your child’s teacher, please reach out to have a conversation.

Thank You!

To Parent Council volunteers for hosting a card-making event during Thursday evening’s conferences. It was a nice way for families to meet others and have some snacks. Volunteers also helped to hand out the Growing Smiles fundraiser orders, which filled the building with a wonderful pine scent! Ms. Carr and her volunteers reported lots of visitors in the school’s Book Fair; thanks to parents for contributing to this event.

Outreach Night!

Save the date, December 18, 2024, for North Haven School’s Outreach Night! This evening is an opportunity for you and your family to engage in activities to support organizations in the Calgary Community. This year, we will be helping to support a senior’s home, the Ronald MacDonald House, and the Calgary Drop-In Centre. Please watch out for more information from your child’s teacher.

Parent Society Meeting

We welcome all parents each month to the parent society meetings. These take place in the learning commons and start at 6:30 pm. This month, the grade 5-6 teachers will share.

First Student Bus Status

If your child takes Bus A or B, you are encouraged to sign up for the real time GPS tracking app provided by First Student.  Buses A and B bring our students from the communities of Carrington and Livingston. This app can be accessed on your phone or computer and allows parents to see real-time route delays. These are the large buses (not specialized transportation).

Please note, real-time information may not always be available, but the app will still have posted delays.

You need to register and create an account. The following information is required for our school. In your child’s MyCBE account, you will see a school code that you will need to connect to the app.

Traffic Safety

Please remember to follow the rules of the road when driving through the school zone. With the snow arriving more families are driving their students. It is important that we keep everyone safe. Please slow down and follow the speed limit while driving through the area and always model safe behaviour by using the designated crosswalks. U-turns, parking in the middle of the street, not using the crosswalk and crossing the road between parked cars put everyone at risk.
Have a great week,
