North Haven Peek-at-the-Week
Week of February 2-6
Dear North Haven Families,
As we wrap up a busy January, we would like to thank our students, staff, and families for your continued support. This month included important learning and assessment work, including the Alberta Education Early Years Assessments for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students. We appreciate your flexibility and partnership as we moved through a strong start to the new year.
We are pleased to share that, as our Kindergarten class has grown, Mrs. Gouthro will now be team teaching alongside Mrs. Johnson. This collaborative approach will allow us to better support our youngest learners. As a result of Mrs. Gouthro’s updated teaching assignment, some schedule adjustments will take place over the next few weeks. These changes will affect Physical Education and Music schedules but will not impact the quality of learning or opportunities available to students. More specific details will be shared by classroom teachers as schedules are finalized.
Lost and Found
Lost and found items have been displayed in the main hall for the past two weeks. Items will remain out until the end of this week. Any unclaimed items will be donated to Goodwill on Friday.
Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is approaching, and we will be keeping the day low-key and focused on friendship, belonging, and kindness. Teachers will make age-appropriate connections to curriculum and learning. If students choose to bring valentines, please ensure they are for all classmates. We kindly ask that no candy, food treats, or gifts be sent to school.
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten Registration for the 2026–27 school year is now open. Children are eligible if they turn five years old on or before December 31, 2026. Registration is not first-come, first-served. The CBE Kindergarten Registration Guide is available to support families through the process.
Report Cards
Report cards will be available through MyCBE beginning February 24. Paper copies will not be sent home. For questions about report card content, please contact your child’s teacher. For access support, contact the school office during regular business hours.
Please note that Kindergarten report cards differ from Grades 1–6. February reports will include progress in English Language Arts/Literacy and Math only. In June, progress in all subject areas will be shared.
2026–27 CBE School Calendar
The 2026–27 CBE instructional calendar has been released. The first day of school will be Monday, August 31, 2026.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead,
Warm regards,
