North Haven Peek at the Week
Week of March 9-13

https://northhaven.cbe.ab.ca/

Good evening North Haven families,

With the recent time change, mornings may feel a little harder this week as routines adjust. Thank you for your continued support in helping students arrive ready to learn each day.

This Week

  • Tuesday, March 10 – Math Club and Handbell Club
  • Thursday, March 12 – Poet Laureate visit with grade 3&4
  • Student-Led Conference booking opens (12:00 p.m.)

Important Information

Student-Led Conferences

Student-Led Conferences will take place March 19 (4:00–7:00 p.m.) and March 20 (8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.). Students will guide families through their learning and share work they are proud of while teachers circulate to support and answer questions.

Conferences are booked in 30-minute blocks, with up to six families in the classroom at a time. Booking opens March 12 at 12:00 p.m.

Being on Time After the Time Change

Our doors open at 7:50 a.m., and learning begins at 8:00 a.m. Arriving on time helps students start the day calmly, connect with classmates, and begin learning with the rest of the class.

Even small delays add up. Ten minutes late each day equals nearly an hour of missed learning in a week. Thank you for helping students arrive on time as routines adjust after the time change.

Report Cards

Our records indicate that a number of parents have not yet accessed their child’s report card online. We kindly ask that you take a moment to log in and review your child’s progress. This information is an important part of supporting your child’s learning and celebrating their achievements, as well as identifying next steps.

If you are experiencing any difficulties accessing PowerSchool or have questions about your child’s report card, please do not hesitate to contact the school for support. The CBE has also provided video tutorials for your reference.

Reminders

  • Grade 1 and Grade 2 families are invited to a Celebration of Learning on March 18 at 1:45 p.m.
  • Families who use school transportation are encouraged to download the FirstView app to track their child’s bus in real time.
  • The Transportation Family Checklist is available to help families prepare students for safe and consistent bus travel throughout the year
  • March 19 is the last day of classes before Spring Break – Classes resume March 30.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead,

Cat Gammell and Pam Kessler
North Haven Principal and Assistant Principal
