Curriculum Night – September 24th
We look forward to seeing our parents and students on Wednesday, September 24 for Curriculum Night. This is a time for parents to visit the classroom, meet their child’s teacher(s) and learn about the routines, expectations, curriculum, upcoming field trips, and clubs, at North Haven School.
There will be two short presentations from teachers, with time to connect and ask general questions after. We ask that you arrive on time to minimize disruptions. If possible, arrive at the designated time to help limit traffic concerns. We encourage those within walking distance to walk.
Families with Last Names A to M:
4:30 Arrival (Presentation will start at 4:35 pm; questions after)
Families with Last Names N to Z
5:15 Arrival (Presentation will start at 5:20 pm; questions after)
*The parent association will also be providing pizza for families on Curriculum Night. Thank you! Food will be set up in the gymnasium. Please plan to eat after your session (for those attending the first group) and before your session (for those attending the second group). We will be packing up for the night at 6:00 pm.
Lunch with the Principals:
This year, we will be having weekly lunches with different groups of students in all classes from Grades 1 to 6. Teachers will select interested students to join us. We are excited to touch base with children of all ages to check in about how they are doing – what they enjoy about school and what they might need help with. This week, some students from Ms. Woolley’s class will join us.
Welcome Bow Valley College Practicum Students
This week, we will welcome some practicum students from Bow Valley College who are studying to become Educational Assistants & Child Youth Care Workers. Each practicum student will be paired up with two classroom teachers to support students at North Haven in a variety of division one and Division 2 classes. We are looking forward to working with the following practicum students over the next 8 weeks.
- Ms. Mariama (EA)
- Mr. Mav (CYC)
- Ms. Wendy (EA)
- Ms. Luwam (EA)
School Lunches
Each Year, the parent association organizes some regular school lunches and snacks through Healthy Hunger. This is currently being set up, and information will be provided soon on how you may sign up your child for this food program. The first lunch date will be in early October.
North Haven is also a part of Brown Bags for Kids - a lunch program that offers free snacks and lunches for students whose families are having financial difficulties. If you are interested in accessing this program, no proof of need is required; you just need to contact Pam Kessler (assistant principal), and she will add your child(ren) to the service.
We hope you have a great week,
Cat Gammell, Principal
Pamela Kessler, Assistant Principal
