One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Parent societies are a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.

The Parent Association is an independent association registered with the Province of Alberta.
The purpose of the Parent Association is to raise funds for school programs and equipment that would not be funded otherwise. - Soccer residency
- Karate Residency

How does the Parent Association decide where to spend its money?
Throughout the year, the principal, school staff, and parent association recommend programs and equipment that they believe will benefit the school.
Decisions about which programs to fund and what equipment to purchase is made during School Council / Parent Association meetings by those in attendance.
North Haven Learning Grounds
The North Haven Learning Grounds is a naturalization project at North Haven School. A partnership between the students, staff and the North Haven Parent Association, the project supports learning through nature and will create a space for emotional wellness.
The conceptual design below has been prepared by reGenerate Design Ltd, with support from Parks Foundation Calgary.
Learning Grounds Plan:
Phase 1: Summer 2022 – Fall 2022:
Northwest corner of schoolyard installations
- Trees and Native Plant Species: Plant trees, native shrubs and grasses, eventually creating shade to cool students and visitors.
Supporting pollinators and ecosystem health. - Outdoor Amphitheatre: Build a space to learn and gather, for students and the community.
- Accessible Pathways: Make the schoolyard accessible and welcoming for all students and visitors by installing new paths.
- Spaces to Play and Reflect: Develop spaces to observe and interact with nature, for emotional and physical wellbeing.
- Truth and Reconciliation Connections:
Incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and understanding to promote intercultural respect and acknowledgement of the land.
Phase 2 (Summer 2023-Fall 2023) is focused on the area to the northeast of the school by the swings and the playground. It includes:
- Plaza with benches
